Patch 0.14.3 has just gone live with a few hotfixes for Hole in the Wall after yesterday’s patch. Thank you all for your feedback, be that on the forums or Discord (special thanks to the HITW Dojo)! We always appreciate your thoughts and ideas, and if you do have any more, please post them on our forums. Everything posted there is read by us (even if we don’t always respond)!

Hole in the Wall

  • Games will now begin at a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 12.
  • Game difficulty and trap frequency now increases every 45 seconds instead of every 60 seconds. This should help improve the pace of the game.
  • Game time has been reduced from 4:00 to 3:30. Overall this gives more exciting gameplay at max difficulty.
  • Some traps have been adjusted to make it a bit easier for the reduced player amounts.
    • Hoglins - Decreased from 4 to 3.
    • Creepy Crawlies - Decreased from 7 to 5.
    • Arrow Storm: - Decreased arrows from 40 to 30 and reduced rate of fire.
  • Tweaked HITW quests and Faction XP rewards again to match these new changes.

overall great patch, but reducing the game time seems weird to me, people like the challenge of trying to survive until the end, which is now reduced
It should balance out quite nicely and in testing it definitely seems to make the game a bit more fast paced and fun. I suppose you can think of it as us removing the first 30 seconds, instead of the last? If that makes any sense :sweat_smile:

yeah makes more sense viewing it like that. I guess imo surviving until the end has been too easy and would love longer games. Ultimately some sort of infinite mode would be the best since trying to set a highscore is what i would enjoy most about a game like HITW which currently you reach the limit of if you are decent at the game.
 
I appreciate increasing the minimum to 8 players, yet I still think the maximum should be the same number of like 22 or something. The reason I am so passionate about this is because I am a participant in some MCC Island locally hosted tournaments, and it makes the hole in the wall segment far slower when the maximum is only 12 people. I hope you guys revert the maximum back to what it already was, and I just want to say - you're doing great Noxcrew.

NO WAYY they actually nerfed arrow storm AND creepy crawlies???? HITW is playable now oh my goodness
As a tourney player, a 12 max player cap hurts. Although I do agree HITW is actually going to be a decent game if Noxcrew keeps on listening to the community

Plobbies still have the 24 player max to my knowledge.

So, vanished for a couple of days not very optimistic about the HITW situation, and was pleasantly surprised when I returned today to see some tweaks to HITW that I think have improved the game overall! It's good to see it queue again, and the 8 min/12 max works perfectly for the state of the current game. But it felt good to see it be given some love regardless. :)
