Upcoming MCC Island economy changes & Game Pass sale!

Hello!

Very soon (in our next major patch), MCC Island will be getting a large overhaul of its economy, along with a bunch of other exciting changes (More on this soon!)
Because of this, there will be a few changes that we want to let you know about beforehand, so let’s dive into them;

💰 Game Passes (30% Off Sale!)

GamePassThumb.png

We weren't 100% happy with the current position that Game Passes play in the MCC Island economy, so our next major patch will have the following changes:
  • Double-bundles will be split into separate individual packages on our webstore.
  • Game Passes will no longer be purchasable for Gems in-game.
  • Game Passes will be made 28% cheaper on the webstore than our current prices.
  • Game Passes will change from 850 → 600 gem cost in-game until the patch drops (Which the gem purchasing option will then be removed)
  • Starting TODAY (until the patch), Game Passes will go on a 30% off Sale in preparation for this upcoming change (So buying now will actually save you a little bit of $ before the patch drops!).
We decided that Game Passes would no longer be obtainable for gems strictly because we weren’t happy that the main way the majority of players were choosing to interact with the Gem Economy was by saving up for those passes. We want gems to flow through the economy more freely, especially as we add even more uses for them, and having one main thing to save for ruins that in a way we didn’t anticipate.

⚔️ Battle Pass

Aside from a bunch of changes that we’ll explain when the new Battle Pass drops, one major change is that;
  • We’ll be moving the Parkour Warrior Daily Challenge access from the Battle Pass to the upcoming MCC+ subscription instead.
By having Parkour Warrior Daily access locked behind the Battle Pass, it created a silly situation where as the season progressed, it became less and less valuable to pick up the Battle Pass if you were aiming for the Parkour Warrior Daily challenge access.

We don’t think this is great for players, and it should be instead governed by a rank where everyone gets the exact same amount of access time, as it’s based on when you buy it, rather than per season.

🎽 Cosmetics moving to Legacy obtainments!

With the next Battle Pass Season almost here, there’ll be a bunch of cosmetics moving into new obtainable legacy pools.

ALL Season 1 Cosmetics from the Crate Machine and Pose Shop, Battlepass, and Squidtek Event’s Shop & Clam Machine Cosmetics are moving to a Legacy Crate Pool, which will be obtainable through a new Legacy Crate Machine. To be able to make pulls on this, you’ll need Legacy Crate Keys, which will be craftable in the Fusion Forge using a very expensive recipe!

However, certain cosmetics won’t be available through this method and will be completely unobtainable going forward. These cosmetics will now shift from Trophies to Legacy Trophies, which we are renaming soon to Bonus Trophies to reduce confusion.
  • Lifeguard Bundle (Season 1)
    • Sun Visor (Lifeguard) Hat
    • Rescue Paddle Accessory
    • Lifebuoy Cloak
  • Ultimate Battle Pass Scuba Set
    • Scuba Headgear Hat
    • Scuba Watch Accessory
    • Scuba Tank Cloak
  • Squidtek Agent Summer Bundle
    • Squidtek Agent Hat
    • Hydroblaster (Squidtek) Accessory
    • Aquatank Cloak
  • Battle Pass Season 1 Cloaks:
    • Jellyfish Tendrils
    • Poseidon’s Cloak

That covers all for now, but there are a TON of changes coming with our next MCC Island major patch, and I can't wait to share them!

One of our upcoming features are Private Lobbies, which we did a bit of a deep-dive in a video you can watch here:

Enjoy![/b][/b]

I like the ability to get legacy items, but moving the daily challenge to MCC+ is, in my opinion, a terrible idea. The chief reason I and quite a few others saved gems for the next battle pass (aside from the banger cosmetics) is to play the Parkour Warrior daily challenge, since it gives replayability to Dojo where there hardly is otherwise and allowed players to potentially get 1k+ XP per day from getting an expert completion. Now, progression is even more "pay-to-win" than before since you can no longer grind for the daily challenge.

In addition, getting trophies for the "milestone badges" from Parkour Warrior Dojo, such as the Leaper badges, will be nigh impossible to get in a timely manner for free to play players, as they require completions on unique courses.

A similarly terrible idea mentioned here is the removal of the ability to pay for game passes for gems. Not only are you removing an incentive for free-to-play players to grind on the server, but you are also removing one of the biggest incentives to buy gems in the first place. This is simply a headscratcher to me, as I don't see why you'd remove an incentive for one of the more "accessible" monetization methods.

P.S.: ratio.
All right, after giving a bit more thought to this, I'd like to give some alternatives that could, hopefully, work for F2P players, paid players, and Noxcrew. I think you should give people the option to unlock the daily challenge through either MCC+, the Battle Pass, or earning all 21 medals on all 7 main courses for the month. This would give active players an incentive to practice in the Dojo more, as they would have another reward to look forward to after unlocking all 7 main courses. In addition, free-to-play players wouldn't lose the ability to get through each stage of the "milestone badges" without having to wait for the Dojo's courses to go through over a year's worth of cycles.

Also, keep the planned price of the game passes as is, while raising the gem price accordingly. It would be more of a grind, but the additional ways to earn gems will, hopefully, make them more accessible for free-to-play players.

When it comes to legacy items, please make them a bit less RNG-based to get, as the crates already tend to give the same items multiple times. Maybe you could put a few of them in the Posé shop for significantly more coins than most cosmetics; it could similarly be a decent way to futureproof the legacy crates, as they are sure to be filled to the brim after a few more seasons.

In my opinion, I believe it would be a better idea to not put the PKW daily challenge in the battle pass nor the MCC+ subscription, but its own separate purchase. It would be able to be purchased for ~300 gems in-game at the locked frog in the PKW lobby:parkour_warrior:or in the webstore for a reasonable price. There should be 2 ways to purchase it to give players choice, as some players don’t want to grind while others do.

this is a great idea!! i think another option is to inclue it in BOTH the battle pass and the mcc+ subscription. i think enough players care about the daily challenges alone to make this worth it, as some players wouldnt use the other features of mcc+ and would be paying only for the pkw

the new uses for the gems need to be actually desirable like the game passes are; f2p players aren't going to suddenly buy the game passes because they have no other options to obtain them. we also aren't going to use gems just to get 2 rare material pouches summer event 2023

every menu you open on the server prompts you to buy something which can be discouraging for f2p, obviously the server needs money but it would be nice to see a little more progression systems that come from solely playing the server. loyalty roads are okay with this up until prestige where you'll either be waiting a long time or spending lots of gems to advance by getting all of the materials needed.

the changes above aren't inherently a problem unless you leave f2p players empty handed, with the exception of PKW daily course.

I don't even play parkour dojo but locking the daily challenge behind a $7 monthly subscription is just odd and out of place with every other aspect of the server. This is the only aspect of the server that is locked behind a paywall without it being for cosmetics. The daily challenges aren't even made by Noxcrew, you are charging players to play a curated set of obstacles mainly made by probably iTMG, who I doubt is going to see a sliver of money from that. imo you could have kept the battle pass requirement or just have it be it's own independent thing that you buy for gems directly but locking it behind a paywall is not the move.

True; I do like how this would give players choice, however the problem with putting it in the battle is that the value of it would go down as the 3-month time period for the battle pass progresses. In other words, players that don‘t buy it early have a disadvantage to those who did buy it earlier in the season (they would have fewer days to play to the daily challenge.)

agreed. thats the disadvantage of using gems to buy the pass, since you need to grind to get them, so players who are able to are encouraged to spend money on it (which is of course what noxcrew need some players to do) to get it early, without disadvantaging f2p players too much. i think thats the benefit of having multiple options for buying it is you could buy it through mcc+ if youre late to the season, and then buy the next battle pass. maybe if its cheaper to buy it as part of the battle pass (ie 3 months vs 1 month subscription) players would be more likely to spend the money on it

not sure where you got this from but most obstacles are made by noxcrew, the only maps that are made by me or other community members are named "___'s Challenge"

exactly!

honestly kinda based update: gamepasses are 8 bucks, mcci+ is likely gonna be 7-9 dollars, battlepass will be the same price but have 100 levels (probably) and we'll have more gems in circulation for cosmetics and stuff. W noxcrew, and i wont take that back

To be fair, I wouldn't buy the Game Passes to begin with. The Battle Passes are honestly a lot more worth it, and by the time you get enough gems to even get the Game Passes, you'd already have enough to unlock the next Battle Pass. I don't mind the changes because I'm not the developers. They probably have a much better understanding at how to change things. While it may be frustraiting, it's just overall probably for the best. Either way, that's just my take on it, and I know if I don't say that, I'm going to get a lot of people yelling at me.

I 100% agree, the only change to this I would propose is making the pkw daily accessible through a monthly gem purchase as well as mcci+
