Assuming an item-based system (as server settings would be way too slow), I get the vibe that more people would be focused on dodging walls than managing whether they have players hidden at any given moment. Plus, better players who want to keep the information just...won't use it, which feels wasted.
Also, players are just boots - the smallest armor and least impactful to knowing where the ground is - in the distance where it matters, unless other players are ACTUALLY a threat due to a current trap.
